Alexander Ferkey, Bassist
A musician of varied interests, Alexander Ferkey has performed around the Midwest in a variety of musical genres ranging from jazz, orchestral, and chamber music to musical theater, rock, and metal. As a native of central Wisconsin, Alex pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with Professor David Story. As a member of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra and UWSP Wind Ensemble, Alex has performed with acclaimed musicians such as percussionist Evelyn Glennie, David Taylor, and the late David Maslanka. In 2017, he became the first bassist to win the Alice Peet Faust Concerto Competition, resulting in a performance of Giovanni Bottesini’s Concerto in B minor with the UWSP Symphony Orchestra.
