Matthew Peralta, Bassist
Matthew Peralta began studying the piano at the age of seven. At age 14, he switched to double bass upon acceptance into the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. He twice attended the Kinhaven Music School and once to Eastern Music Festival. He previously studied music in the InterSchool Orchestras of New York. In his senior year of high school, Matthew won the concerto competition and performed the Dragonetti Bass Concerto. Presently, he attends SUNY Purchase where he is a student of Timothy Cobb and performs with the New York Youth Symphony. is performing in his fourth and final year of New York Youth Symphony and is attending SUNY Purchase where he studies with Timothy Cobb. This summer Matthew will attend the Roundtop Music Festival. His past teachers include Rebekah Griffin Greene, Rick Ostrovsky and Leonid Finkelshteyn.
Named an Ambassador of Doublestop Foundation in 2018, Matthew performs on a Jacob Schmidbauer bass and Joseph Kun French bow, a loan made possible with the generous support of Greg and Dana Kwan.
